The objective of this laboratory is to design and create functional biomaterials on the basis of molecular-level analysis of living body/material interactions and mechanism of biocompatibility. Our research feature is development of novel biomedical materials for hard and soft tissue substitutions, based on the fundamental researches on bioactive ceramics and polypeptides, as well as organic-inorganic hybrids.

Research subjects

Development of biomimetic organic-inorganic hybrids for bone tissue regeneration.
Fundamental research on formation of inorganic crystals under a biological condition.
Development of scaffold materials for bone tissue engineering through a novel ceramic processing.
Design of bioactive metallic materials through a surface treatment
Controlled growth of inorganic crystals using polypeptides
Elucidation of the principle of reaction and function by computational chemistry
